Difference between OR value and aOR value

Both OR value and aOR value refer to a kind of resistance index in plants, but the calculation method and application scenario are different.

The odds ratio refers to the ratio used to evaluate the influence of a certain factor on the occurrence of a disease. The greater the OR value, the stronger the correlation between this factor and the disease. In plant pathology, OR value is usually used to evaluate the infection degree of a pathogen to plants. The calculation formula of or value is: (a × d)/(b × c), where a, b, c and d respectively represent four categories of quantities, specifically:

A: The number of plants infected by pathogens and showing resistance.

B: The number of plants infected by pathogens but showing no resistance.

C: the number of plants that are not infected by pathogens and show resistance.

D: The number of plants that are not infected by pathogens and show no resistance.

The adjusted odds ratio refers to the degree of influence of a certain factor on a certain disease or resistance under the control of other variables. In plant pathology, aOR value is usually used to evaluate the degree of resistance of a resistance gene to plants. The calculation method of aOR value is similar to OR value, but statistical analysis such as multivariate logistic regression is needed to control the influence of other variables.
