What is the reason for Yongjia Nandu?

The first large-scale population migration in the ancient history of China was in the Western Jin Dynasty.

During the Western Jin Dynasty, more than one million people in the Central Plains moved to the Yangtze River valley, and quite a few of them were literati and nobles. The southward migration lasted for two centuries. In ancient China, there was the first climax of population migration to the south, which was called Yongjia Du Nan in history.

After the rebellion of Yongjia Eight Kings in the Western Jin Dynasty, the northern minorities fought in the Central Plains. Generally speaking, from the first year of Yongjia, Si Marui moved to Jianye Town, and northern scholars crossed the river to escape the war. Some leading clansmen led hundreds of songs and thousands of them went south together. In the fifth year of Yongjia, Xiongnu Liu Yao and Adi Xerox broke Luoyang, and "Zhongzhou ladies and girls avoided chaos on the left side of the river."

During Yongjia's southern crossing, Si Marui, the king of Langya, was the capital of the town, and Yang Jiangxiang was the capital of Jianye. Jiangnan is relatively stable, and the bureaucrats in power try to place their children and relatives in Jiangnan as local officials, thinking that they will protect themselves in the future.
