How do foreigners cancel their accounts?

Household registration represents your nationality. Immigrants can be immigrant visas, permanent residency (that is, green cards), or foreign nationalities. These three categories all belong to the category of immigration. China will not recognize dual nationality, and your nationality will be revoked only if you acquire a foreign nationality. Otherwise, if it is only an immigrant visa, and you are still of China nationality and have not gone abroad or settled abroad, you need to provide the following materials to cancel your account:

1. The original contract shall be deposited in the household registration book and recovered when the cancellation procedures are handled; If the contract has not expired, please bring the original payment slip or receipt for refund.

2. Original Chinese ID card.

3. Original application for cancellation of my account, including: name before cancellation, ID number, reasons for cancellation, address outside China (territory), contact information, my signature and application date.

4. If you have settled in a foreign country, you should submit a written application for canceling your account, as well as the original, photocopy and translation of the original certificate that can prove that you have obtained permanent residency; To settle in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Province Province, you should submit a written application for canceling your account, a notice of approval for settlement issued by the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ, a permanent identity card of Hong Kong or Macao, and the original and photocopy of mainland travel permit for taiwan residents stamped with the entry-exit inspection seal of the Chinese frontier inspection department; If you have joined a foreign nationality, you should submit a written application for cancellation of your account, the original and photocopy of a valid foreign passport, and the original translation.

If you need to issue a cancellation certificate, you can issue it at the household registration file window of Dongsheng police station with valid documents (foreign passport, Hong Kong and Macao permanent identity card) within 7 working days from the date of submitting the materials.

The following materials shall be submitted for account cancellation due to death:

1. The cancellation of China hukou does not mean the cancellation of China nationality.

2. Overseas Chinese who have settled abroad

In the document issued by the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, overseas Chinese are divided into three categories: overseas Chinese who do not meet the criteria for settlement, overseas Chinese who have settled abroad and non-overseas Chinese.

Among them, overseas Chinese who have settled abroad need to cancel their accounts. The term "settlement" in this article refers to China citizens who have not obtained the long-term or permanent residency (PR) in their country of residence, but have obtained the legal residency in their country of residence for more than five consecutive years (including five years) and have lived in that country for not less than 30 months within five years.

3. China people who live permanently.

If the applicant has the right of permanent residence in a foreign country (different countries have different names), and has lived in that country for a total of 18 months in the last two years, it is also necessary to cancel the household registration.

Third, the company moved.

If the applicant has previously started a company as a citizen of China, it is necessary to move the company entity after canceling the household registration and changing the nationality.

As a legal person, it is necessary to draft new articles of association to appoint it as a new legal person as a foreigner, and submit relevant materials such as company filing application;

As an investor, it is necessary to change the equity, draft new articles of association, designate foreigners as new investors, and submit relevant materials such as resolutions on equity change.

The above two steps need to submit materials to the local market supervision bureau and complete the examination and approval within 20 working days.

Four. After the account is cancelled, the ID card cannot be reissued.

If you just cancel your account and don't change your nationality, you can use your passport certificate instead of your ID card to prove your identity when handling financial, educational, medical, transportation, telecommunications, social insurance, property registration and other affairs in China.

5. What about social security after canceling the account?

If the household registration is cancelled before formal retirement (male 60 years old, female 55 years old), the social security relationship with the company can be terminated and the personal part can be presented at one time (the part paid by the company cannot be presented).

If you cancel your account after retirement and have officially started to receive a pension, you need to provide a survival certificate every year and you can continue to receive a pension.
