Natural conditions in East Africa

The climate in East Africa is dominated by savanna, but the vertical zonality is obvious. Alpine areas are cool and humid; Coastal lowlands are hot and humid in the south and dry and hot in the north. Located in the watershed area of Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, most rivers flow eastward into the Indian Ocean. The Nile originates in the western mountains. There are many lakes, except Lake Victoria and Lake Keogha, which are mostly fault lakes and distributed in a beaded shape along the rift zone, forming the famous Great Lakes Belt of East Africa.
