At that time, people were indifferent to fame and fortune, and didn't care much about who owned the honor and how to divide the money. The beginning of China's computer industry started with the approval of the central government to set up computing. The day before the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the computer industry is the 5th anniversary of the founding of Computing. On that day, many older generation scientists came to talk about the situation in those days, and they all had tears in their eyes.

Zhang Jianshe: As the Secretary-General of the Institute, where do you want the Institute to develop?

Du Zide: In 24, the Institute changed its term, and a new Council was formed. Academician Li Guojie became the chairman and I became the secretary-general. We have very similar ideas about running a meeting. We should learn to be fair, serve, have members, have rules, be dedicated rather than nominal, and learn to socialize our offices. My philosophy is that we must operate independently, face the members and face the society, and we can't live in the affiliated units. We used to have almost no individual members, but now we are definitely developing members. We basically started from scratch, and many people are still not used to paying the dues. Being elected president of IOI is the happiest thing

At this time, some people in the international Committee wanted to arrange someone they liked, and the situation was once very chaotic. A few days later, I spoke: "I now announce in the name of the chairman that it is the crisis moment of the international informatics Olympics. I must be responsible for this crisis and find countermeasures." Since it is impossible to convene a meeting of the International Committee, the successor of the Executive Director is not elected, but nominated by the President and confirmed by the International Committee. I will give the international Committee a shortlist within a week. In the future, without my consent, no one may contact the outside world in the name of the International Informatics Olympics. " My tone is very tough, of course, it is also to perform my duties and exercise my power. At this time, the international Committee was quiet. Some members of the International Committee said, "Zide, you are right. You are the chairman, so do as you say." This is the first crisis I have dealt with since I was elected chairman, and this round has won!

when I held IOI 26 in Mexico this year, I published the chairman's report. I thought about 1 reform measures, involving the status quo, problems and trends. First of all, we must reorganize the composition of the international Committee. I suggest that the number of members elected by the participating countries should be increased and the number of members from the host country should be reduced. My idea is 6+3, with 6 members elected and 3 members from the host country. Later, after bargaining, it was compromised that five came from the host country and six came from the election. As for the selection of executive officers, I propose that the officers should be nominated by the President and approved by the International Committee, so as to expand the power of the President and improve the efficiency of decision-making. The other is to express recognition and award to those who have made contributions. I have set up three awards, one of which is the outstanding contribution award issued by the chairman. The winner was very excited and said that his work was finally recognized. My 1-point reform measures, five of which have been adopted and implemented.
