Advantages of thermal spraying zinc

Because the sand blasting increases the pockmarks, the effective adhesion of the coating is ensured, and the anti-corrosion effect is maintenance-free for more than 20 years. Although the initial investment is larger than that of spray painting, it needs to be maintained after two or three years of spray painting, and the manpower and material resources are much higher than that of thermal spraying zinc in the long run. The advantages of hot and cold zinc spraying process compared with traditional hot dip galvanizing process are introduced.

1, the pretreatment of cold galvanizing process adopts pickling and phosphating process, and there will be acid-base solution residue on the surface of the workpiece, leaving corrosion hidden danger. Therefore, the cold galvanized layer is easy to fall off. The pretreatment of zinc spraying process adopts sand blasting process, so the surface of the workpiece is very clean and rough, and there will be no corrosion from inside to outside after zinc spraying, so the zinc layer will not fall off.

2. The hot dip galvanizing process has a certain temperature, about 440℃, so the workpiece will be deformed after hot dip galvanizing. However, the temperature of zinc spraying process is very low, and the surface temperature of the workpiece

3. The workpiece with cold and hot dip galvanizing process is limited by the length, width and height of plating bath, while the workpiece with zinc spraying process is not limited.

4. When cold-dip galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing processes are used, there are still problems in site repair. Damages in welding seam, loading and unloading and transportation during field installation can only be repaired by painting. If the zinc spraying process is adopted, the zinc spraying method can be used for field repair to avoid technical breakthrough.

5. Because pickling and phosphating are used in the pretreatment of cold galvanizing process, the surface of the workpiece has no roughness and the coating adhesion is poor, while sandblasting is used in the pretreatment of zinc spraying process, so the surface of the workpiece has roughness, the coating adhesion is good and the tensile strength is ≥6Mpa.

6. Cold galvanizing process has serious pollution to water quality, and the environmental protection problem is very prominent, while hot spraying zinc has little pollution to the environment. Therefore, the application of thermal spraying zinc technology in steel structure surface corrosion protection will be more and more extensive.
