Is Yushan Island the largest oil refinery in the world?

Yushan Island is not the largest oil refinery in the world. It is only the largest oil refinery in China.

"Yushan Island" is located in the grey turtle sea area 4 nautical miles west of Daishan Island in Zhoushan, with a population of 3,000 before development and an area of 8.44 square kilometers.

On March 20 16, the state decided to establish an oil refining base on this small island and build it into a world-class chemical base comparable to Yulong Island in Singapore (there are more than 90 top chemical enterprises from all over the world on Yulong Island).

By 20 19, just three years later, we can see that the mountains of Yushan Island have been dug up, and the original appearance of Yushan Island is only a little bit in its northern area.

The excavated mountain fills the surrounding sea area, expanding the area of Yushan Island to 2 1 km2. People began to build oil refining facilities on newly-built land. The blast furnace was built on the island. Among them, the first phase of 40 million tons/year refining and chemical integration project has been completed.

Generally speaking, when the monomer scale of conventional refinery (excluding deep hydrocracking) reaches 25-30 million tons, the economy of olefins, aromatics and refining can be taken into account, and olefins and aromatics can be comprehensively utilized to the maximum extent.

So far, the average scale of domestic oil refining enterprises is about 7 million tons, and the largest Zhenhai oil refinery is also built in stages, so the material arrangement can only be gradually optimized. The Twelfth Five-Year Plan of China Petrochemical Industry only hopes that China will form several 20 million tons refining production bases.
