Founded in 1956, the troupe is one of the earliest Hakka Huangmei Opera Troupes in Fujian Province and a representative of the Hakka Huangmei Opera Troupe in Fujian Province.

Huangmei Opera originated in Huangmei, Hubei Province, formerly known as Huangmeidiao and tea-picking opera, and is now distributed in Anqing City, Anhui Province and Huangmei County, Hubei Province. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the tea-picking tune in Huangmei County, Hubei Province was introduced to Huaining County, Anhui Province and other surrounding areas, and it was combined with local folk art, sung and chanted in Anqing dialect, and gradually developed into a new kind of drama, which was called Huaiqiang or Huaidiao at that time.
