Qing Xue's experience

Qing Xue, whose original name was Chen Shaomei, liked reading cartoons and comic books as many children did when she was a child. She especially likes Britney Spears in Igarashi Yumiko and cowboy cartoons in Wang Sima. Later, influenced by her brother, Qing Xue read many books, whether it was Xian Yi's Old Master Q or the martial arts classic Hero. She also tried to write and copy paintings, hoping to become a cartoonist one day.

As mentioned in the preface, Hong Kong comic production has always been a "man's world", and it is rarely heard that there are girls willing to join the comic industry. Until 1988, the leading comic company "Yu Lang Group" specially invited a group of female assistants to add new elements to the production team. This "moral policy" not only delighted the male assistants at that time, but also made Qing Xue, who had always wanted to enter this industry, get his wish.

Qing Xue said: "When I first entered the business, I was responsible for the work of" holding manuscripts "(that is, clearing redundant lines for manuscripts) and" shirt flowers "(drawing patterns on people's clothes), belonging to the" Rong Da School "group of disciple Mao. About nine months later, he was transferred to be in charge of the comprehensive comic book "Miss Ghost" as a shirt assistant, mainly assisting cartoonists Kuang Binqiang and Li Zhichang's manuscripts, and later had the opportunity to make his own column. Although the daily work is heavy, I have benefited a lot from the lack of knowledge of making cartoons, which laid the foundation for word processing and typesetting. "After all, in those days, companies were dominated by men. After working for more than a year, Qing Xue feels that there are not many opportunities for girls to develop, and even fewer can become the lead writer. So she resolutely resigned and went back to reality to teach in kindergarten. But she didn't give up comics, and even felt that she lacked painting skills, and she still took painting courses at night.

Later, Qing Xue learned that the youth magazine "Yes! I was recruiting people, so I brought my paintings to the company to recommend myself, but the company didn't hire the lead writer at that time. Qing Xue said: "Just when I was disappointed, the company thought I could draw some portraits of stars for the magazine. Because I saw the paintings I brought, I had the opportunity to start writing for each issue of Yes! Draw a portrait of a star. Three months later, the company gave me the opportunity to serialize my first girl cartoon, Match! Since then, I have started my career as a cartoonist, and the pseudonym' Qing Xue' has also started since then. "

At that time, the Japanese cartoonist Chai Menwen's love cartoon style was popular in Hong Kong and Macao, plus "Matches! Since it was serialized, it was unexpectedly popular, which made Qing Xue known. At that time, she worked for Yes every week! In addition to serializing comics, he also serialized the work Infinite First Love for Ming Pao. This cartoon adapted from a radio drama is serialized every day. When the audience listens to the radio at night, they can see cartoons that follow the story in the morning newspaper. This unprecedented cooperation not only made the works very popular, but also established Qing Xue's status as a representative of Hong Kong girls' comics. Subsequently, Qing Xue published her own works one after another, including Shining Stars, A New Cohabitation Relationship Adapted from TVB TV Series, Red Sand Seal @ Clover 2 and her other masterpiece, Koshien Garden, which was well received by readers. Speaking of this work, it reminds Qing Xue of an unforgettable past. She said, "One day, I received a letter from a reader. It turns out that one of my young readers is very ill. She always liked Koshien, and this cartoon accompanied her through her last days. Her good friend wrote to thank me. When I read this letter, I was filled with emotion. Later, I discussed with the publishing house and specially drew a perfect ending to commemorate this little reader. "

1995, Comic Fans, the first comprehensive comic magazine for young girls in Hong Kong, was published. As a pillar, Qing Xue serialized to 20 12 on a regular basis. During this serial career of 17, Qing Xue published many works, including Fairy Mouse, Kiss2 Twin and Supermodel. In the face of the serious shrinkage of the publishing industry, although girls' comics have not been spared, in recent years, Qing Xue has also tried to open up other development spaces, such as drawing a draft with the theme of honesty for the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption, cooperating with Cidhe, a popular novelist on the Internet in China, drawing a comic novel YOURO Pet Shop, and publishing picture books "Sweet Book" and "Handbook of Happy Life". Among them, The Handbook of Happy Life is the most successful. This work, which publicizes the information of caring and helping abused cats and dogs to readers by humorous cartoons, has been published in the fourth book so far, and has also opened up a market in Malaysia and authorized local publication. This year, a brand-new picture book "Houtodos Family" was launched.

I haven't drawn a girl cartoon for a long time. Qing Xue was asked what was the most difficult thing to draw a girl cartoon. She said: "I think we must paint with a young mind. After all, I have been painting for so many years, and I am no longer a girl. Therefore, it is most important to keep a girl's heart and keep in touch with new things. I also especially like working with young and cutting-edge screenwriters, hoping to bring surprises to women of different ages. "
