Bathroom couplets

The commercial bathroom in China began in Song Dynasty, when it was called "perfume line". As a sign, the hanging pot in front of the door not only provides people with a bath, but also provides some services such as pedicure and back cleaning. With the commercialization of bathroom, bathroom couplets have gradually emerged. The contents of bathroom couplets are mostly related to the service items in the bathroom, which are used to express feelings, attract customers and have a strong artistic appeal when reading.

There are many examples of "perfume" embedded in couplets. For example:

There are ups and downs in the fragrant soup;

There are many healthy people in the swimming pool. (men's room)

Sweet and warm cardamom;

Water produces new hibiscus. (women's bathroom)

There are also couplets embedded with the modern name "Bath". Please look at this phoenix-tailed couplet:

Warm and cool just happens to be a spring bath;

Both cold and summer are comparable to Tianchi.

Commercial baths are for profit, and couplets sometimes play an important role in realizing this. In this respect, there are two well-written:

The soup in the pool is warm and asks you to take a bath.

I will treat the first step.

Ripples fragrant soup, qi pulse flow;

Dripping water, sweating, refreshing, shaking clothes, and playing the crown.

Look at these two couplets, who didn't go to "cure stubborn diseases and grow up" may be followed by a bustling scene of "traffic is busy, doors are empty"! At the same time, in ancient times, it was very important to make money with kindness in business, and try to avoid unnecessary trouble, so someone wrote such a couplet:

If you are ill, take a break to wash;

Don't enter the pool if you are drunk over 20 years old.

Clean people here;

Relatives are forgotten friends.

The meaning of "someone who keeps himself clean", that is, "lead a clean life", is very appropriate compared with taking a bath. The second couplet's "friends who forget to make friends", that is, intimate friends who don't care about details, came up with "A Biography of Meng Jiao in the New Tang Dynasty": "Less secluded mountains, sexual attraction, discord, Han Yu's first sight, it is friends who forget to make friends." People who take a bath are all naked. Isn't it a "forgotten friendship"? This pair of couplets is a rare masterpiece in the bathroom couplets. Although it is typed in words, it is extraordinary.
