Founded by the former Ministry of Railways 1958, formerly known as Kunming Railway Machinery School. In 2004, the main and auxiliary railway were separated, and the school was handed over from kunming railway administration to Kunming Municipal People's Government. In 20 16, it was upgraded to form a full-time higher vocational college. In 20 19, it passed the qualification assessment of talent training by the Ministry of Education, and merged with Yunnan University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2020.
