Why are many PC games reluctant to release the Mac version?

We all know that MAC has always been positioned as a business laptop to improve work efficiency. So MAC's support for games has been weak. Although there are some games on MAC, they are far behind windows PC in both quantity and experience. So why can't the game come out in the MAC version? There are many reasons for this.

The first and most important reason is market share. Although we all know that Apple's annual sales are large and its profits are high. But if we really put it into a global perspective, according to the latest data, MACOS only accounts for 6. 1% of the global market. I don't say that everyone knows what this share means, which means that most of the global PC market is occupied by Windows PCs. As far as I know, many people buy Macs with windows or dual systems. So from here we can see that windowsPC accounts for the vast majority of the global market. Obviously, if I were a game manufacturer, I wouldn't go to great lengths to create a MAC version of the game for such a small market. Moreover, there are many programmers and engineers among the people who buy Macs, and they may play little or no games. Therefore, it is not worth the loss for game makers to play MAC games. It is hard to say whether the cost can be recovered.

Secondly, there are technical problems. We know that MACOS is a closed brand-new operating system developed by Apple. He uses brand-new languages and programming tools, and they charge. Unlike different Windows PCs, it only needs to modify some code to run, so it is almost impossible to transplant the game directly to the MAC. For example, most of the games on windowsPC are based on DirectX, and the MAC does not support DirectX, which brings great difficulties to the transplantation. So the MAC version of the game almost needs to be rewritten. This is equivalent to reorganizing a development department and recruiting specialized developers and maintenance personnel. The cost and risk of doing so are very high.

Finally, the performance of the MAC. The fluency and speed of MAC computers are recognized by everyone, thanks to the perfect cooperation between Apple's operating system and hardware. Since both hardware and software are implemented by Apple, Apple can fully tap and play the performance of hardware, thus keeping the MAC efficient and smooth. But if you really want the MAC to run large PC games, first of all, its heat dissipation problem is a very serious problem. We know that the MAC computer is very thin. Although you can't find anything commonly used, once you run a large game, its heat dissipation is a very serious constraint. Moreover, the whole hardware configuration of MAC is not designed for games, so you can't get a good experience and a very smooth effect when running these games.

For the above reasons, there are very few games on the MAC platform. However, with the more and more extensive use of MAC and better hardware and software configuration, the number of games on the MAC platform will definitely increase gradually.
