On March 12, 1988, with the approval of the People’s Republic of China and the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, the Dongguan Intermediate People’s Court of Guangdong Province was established. It was officially opened for business on January 1, 1989. At present, the Dongguan Intermediate People's Court has 5 presidents and deputy presidents, and 17 internal organs, including the Political Division, the Disciplinary Inspection Team, the First Criminal Trial Division, the Second Criminal Trial Division, the First Civil Trial Division, the Second Civil Trial Division, and the Third Civil Trial Division. tribunal, the fourth civil trial tribunal, the administrative tribunal, the trial supervision tribunal, the filing tribunal, the enforcement bureau, the judicial police detachment, the research laboratory, the office, the judge training center, and the agency service center. There are three grassroots people's courts under it, namely Dongguan First People's Court, Second People's Court, and Third People's Court. There are 15 dispatched tribunals in the three basic people's courts.

There are currently 663 police officers in the two-level courts, including 203 in the intermediate courts and 460 in the grassroots courts; 609 people in the two-level courts have a bachelor’s degree or above, accounting for 92% of the total number of police officers, including There are 59 masters and 4 doctors; young police officers under the age of 30 account for 64% of all police officers.

In 2008, the average number of trial judges at the two levels of courts concluded 277.6 cases, ranking first among the courts in Guangdong Province.
