Introduction Experiment of Maize Variety Zhongdan 909

Zhongdan 909 is a hybrid with Zheng 58 as female parent and HD568 as male parent.

Zhong Dan 909 is a high-yield maize breeding team led by Huang Changling, a researcher at the Institute of Crop Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It took 10 years to successfully cultivate a new maize variety, which was cultivated by breeders.

The emergence to maturity in Huang-Huai-Hai area is 10 1 day, which is later than that in Zheng Dan (958 1 day). Seedling leaf sheath is purple, leaves are green, leaf margin is green, anther is light purple, glume is light purple. The plant type is compact, the plant height is 250 cm, the ear position is 100 cm, and the number of leaves is 2 1.

Filaments are light purple, with barrel-shaped spikes, the spike length is 17.9 cm, the rows per spike are 14 ~ 16, the spike axis is white, the grain is yellow and half-horse-toothed, and the weight of 100 grains is 33.9 grams. After two-year inoculation and identification by hebei academy of agriculture and forestry Institute of Plant Protection, Curvularia leaf spot, leaf spot, leaf spot, stem rot and corn borer were moderately resistant, while smut was highly susceptible.

Tested by the Grain Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (Beijing), the bulk density of grain is 794g/L, the crude protein content is 10.32%, the crude fat content is 3.46%, the crude starch content is 74.02%, and the lysine content is 0.29%.

Growth habit of maize

From sowing to new grain maturity is the life of corn. Generally, the days from sowing to maturity of maize are called the whole growth period, and the days from emergence to maturity are called the growth period. The length of growth period and yield are related to variety characteristics, environmental conditions and other factors.

The required active accumulated temperature of a variety (the sum of daily average temperature ≥ 10℃) is basically stable, and the growth period will be shortened appropriately when the temperature is higher, and extended appropriately when the temperature is lower. The yield is generally divided into five categories: early maturity, middle maturity, middle maturity, middle maturity and late maturity.

In dry corn area, single cropping and spring sowing are the main planting methods. Because of the vast land, the ecological conditions have changed obviously. The frost-free period gradually increased from north to south. The frost-free period in the main corn planting areas was 130- 180 days, and the active accumulated temperature gradually increased from north to south, with an average of about 3 100℃. The growth period of spring maize varies greatly, generally between 100- 135 days.
