Hebei University of Technology, located in Tianjin, was jointly established by Hebei Provincial People's Government, Tianjin Municipal People's Government and People's Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Education, and is affiliated to Hebei Province. It is a national "double-class" construction university and a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university.

It has successively been selected into the National Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities, the Education and Training Plan of Excellent Engineers of the Ministry of Education, the First-class School of Hebei Province, the Construction Project of Tianjin High-level Characteristic University, the National Postgraduate Project of Building High-level Universities, the Scholarship Receiving Institution of China Government for Overseas Students in China, and the National New Engineering Research and Practice Project.

Hebei University of Technology was formerly Beiyang Technical School, which was founded in 1903. Later, it was renamed Zhili Higher Industrial School, Zhili Higher Industrial School, Zhili Public Industrial College, Hebei Provincial Industrial College, Hebei Provincial Industrial College, Hebei Provincial Industrial College and Hebei Institute of Technology.

195 1 merged with Beiyang University to form Tianjin University, 1958 resumed reconstruction, 1962 merged with Tianjin Institute of Technology to form a new Tianjin Institute of Technology, 197 1 renamed Hebei Institute of Technology,1.

The school has 1 national "world-class disciplines", 2 national key disciplines, 3 world-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province, 4 national first-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province and 7 key disciplines in Tianjin. There are 10 postdoctoral research mobile stations,1/first-class doctoral degree authorization points, 26 first-class master degree authorization points, 17 professional degree categories and 28 professional master degree authorization fields. There are more than 23,000 full-time undergraduates and more than 7,500 graduate students.

During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the school presided over 2 national key projects1,more than 400 national natural science funds and more than 2,700 patents, and was approved as the first batch of national intellectual property pilot universities, ranking 70th among 100 universities nationwide. The first "high beam" small satellite successfully made its first flight with the Long March 8 carrier rocket and was in orbit.
