Is it necessary to find a good internship unit?

Suggestions on finding an internship

In a blink of an eye, it's time for junior year to find an internship. According to my experience, I summarize as follows:

1. Generally speaking, it is not easy to find an internship in junior year. Especially for students who are interested in finding internships in large and medium-sized foreign companies, this is a difficult war. The reason is very simple, that is, there are too few large and medium-sized foreign companies suitable for internship in our school. I still remember that at this time last year, Shell, Colgate and Wal-Mart were all recruiting interns on campus, and technology-oriented companies, such as IBM, were all recruiting summer interns. Shell internship online application is the first online application I filled out. It took me several days to fill it out and submit it before the deadline, which was very painful. When you start to fill in the online application, you will inevitably feel very complicated and have no patience to fill in it, especially the open questions. There is no way to start, but you should know that you will face this next semester.

There are countless online applications. About some experience of online application, I will talk about it in more detail in the post of job hunting. It is conceivable that if only a few large companies are suitable for us to apply, then the application scenario is really more thrilling than crossing the wooden bridge with thousands of troops, because in addition to Guangzhou, there are also students from universities such as CUHK and South China University of Technology applying for interns. Each company will recruit at most a few to 20 interns in our school (it is an optimistic estimate, except for the big four), and it is estimated that there are no more than 10 large foreign companies that can provide internship positions for students in our school (it is also an optimistic estimate). To sum up: there are not enough porridge.

2. There may be some junior students who want to go to the four major jobs in the future, or want to go to the four major internships during the summer vacation. I'm not majoring in accounting or financial management. However, as far as I know, the Big Four will also recruit interns in our school in winter and summer vacations, but most of them are students majoring in accounting or related majors, and some (only a few) students minor in accounting. So, if you are not a professional student mentioned above, don't hold your hopes up. Because the four recruitment internships are to cope with the peak season, I definitely want to recruit professional students, and I can start working as soon as I enter the company. Regarding the nature and status of the work of the Big Four, you can consult some brothers and sisters who have already worked in the Big Four, and they will be more clear. I won't say any more.

3. What is the basis for finding an internship? The first thing to do is to make an analysis of yourself. What is your personality, what is your comprehensive quality, what industry you want to enter in the future, and so on. After analyzing my personality, quality and ideal, I use swot to analyze my achievements, such as academic performance, club work experience, interpersonal communication level, learning ability and ability to handle things. It helps you to continue to analyze whether you are suitable for certain jobs. The third point is to chat with people around you, such as parents, teachers, familiar brothers and sisters, good friends and classmates. The content of chatting is to understand other people's views on your personality, quality and existing problems, and others think you are suitable.

What kind of work, etc. Generally speaking, it is to let you know objectively whether your own understanding of yourself is consistent with others' perception of you, and to know your own advantages and disadvantages. It is best to record the above three steps in words. The first and third points are good for your personality test when you apply online next semester, and the second point is good for your resume.

4. What should I do after self-analysis? Write down the company (not only internship but also job hunting) and position you want to go to according to your self-analysis to form a pool. The second step is to find out the information of these companies and positions and see if you can apply for your own education and major. The third step is to chat with brothers and sisters who have already worked in these companies, understand the industry, company and position, and see if they are really suitable and can apply. However, the third step is more difficult to do, and we can only ask some seniors in the same industry to understand the situation.

5. Preparation of internship resume: Considering that you have to attend classes in junior year and work in a community, you may be very busy, so I don't think your internship resume will be as delicate as your job application resume. Generally speaking, the template of internship resume and job application resume can be used. When you are free, you can go to "hiall" or "fresh graduates" to find resume templates, or you can directly search many resumes with different styles through google and Baidu. When I first started writing my resume, I probably wrote a lot of personal information, certificates, awards, and club work experience, but the resume is expensive in one word "Jane". If you are HR, would you like to see thousands of resumes with n pages each? I guess you lost patience, too. So the resume

Generally, it is 1 to page 2 A4. Personalized resume, it is best to make HR shine. But if you have too much personality, HR will either "love" you or "hate" you. I love you because I think you are different and talented, and I hate you because you exaggerate formalism. Don't take such a risk. A personalized resume is not necessarily beautifully packaged and colorful, but makes people feel comfortable; If the words are dense and small, even if you don't want to look twice, HR is even more reluctant to look. So, if the content is correct, carefully check whether your resume typography makes people look comfortable and natural. Your resume will definitely be revised many times. In addition to modifying the basic content and typos, the most important thing is to modify according to the company and position you have invested in. For example, if you want to be a teacher, your resume will emphasize your academic performance, awards and volunteer teaching activities you have participated in. If you want to be a marketing position, you will emphasize the experience of club activities and part-time experience of the company. The so-called "talking to people, talking nonsense" is like this. You can't make a "one size fits all" resume. Senior students often modify their resumes, and some even modify them dozens of times. As for don't write typos, don't use inferior printing paper, and leave these details to you to sum up.

6. Those who want to go to a big company for internship: generally submit resumes, written tests and interviews through the Internet. I haven't turned over the resumes of Shell, Colgate and Wal-Mart. At that time, I was very depressed and self-deprecating, thinking that I didn't have the opportunity to get an internship in a big company, and I would lose a lot of chips in finding a job in the future. . . Looking back now, having internship experience in a big company is certainly a bargaining chip for job hunting, but it is not necessarily what it is. Whether a job can enter a big company is not only for internship, but also for many other comprehensive factors. So if you don't squeeze into the internship bridge of a big company, please don't sell yourself short, because there may be non-strength factors such as luck and probability in it. As long as you study hard before and then prepare well, it is only a matter of time before you enter a big company.

7. Those who don't want to go to a big company for internship: You may have heard that it depends on connections to find an internship. There is some truth in this sentence. If you can't get into a big company, there's nothing wrong with getting into a small and medium-sized company. It is good if relatives or friends can recommend internships to some companies, but it is not too difficult to take the initiative to find internships in some small companies. I have tried to find an internship myself before. Moreover, if you don't want to work in a big company, you don't need to squeeze into Guangzhou, but you can go back to your hometown for an internship, because your hometown may not be as competitive as Guangzhou, but internships are easy to find. It is said that some small accounting companies will also invite internships, but only to cope with the peak season, so don't expect too much to become a full member after the internship.

8. Are there any other internship channels? Yes In fact, you are much happier than your former brothers and sisters, because there were fewer companies recruiting internships in the past. Now there are some activities that allow you to experience job hunting and internship in advance, such as acca employability contest and employment-related activities organized by msn. I know that some job-related media are also organizing such activities, such as Zhaopin recruitment and worry-free future. You can also participate more, accumulate some experience and awards, and get to know people in some companies.

9. What if I can't find an internship? Actually, don't care too much about the internship. No internship is no big deal. Many people have no internship experience. If you really can't find an internship, enjoy your last summer vacation. You can participate in compulsory education activities such as going to the countryside, do social research, read more books and spend more time with your parents. However, if you still feel that these are not sufficient, you can start preparing the job application materials immediately. It's never too early to prepare.

10. What is the purpose of the internship? Personally, I think that if you can't get training and work experience in related industries (which often happens in small and medium-sized companies, sometimes even large companies), then the purpose of internship is to learn to be a person and do things in a social environment. Think about 1 to 2 months of internship. How much is the company willing to pay for you before it decides or has no intention of hiring you as a regular employee? From a business point of view, the less the better. If you can really learn something, even if the internship salary is very low, it is worthwhile. But if you already feel that there is nothing to learn in the company, don't stick to it, it's boring to waste time, so consider leaving as soon as possible. Whether you can learn anything in the internship is very subjective. Maybe the same job is meaningful to others and you think it's a waste of time. This doesn't mean that you must be wrong. Maybe you are really not suitable for this job. During the internship, you can still choose to leave, but when you become a regular employee, you can't be so chic. So I want to emphasize that steps 3 and 4 of this article are very important for your career. As for being a man and doing things in a social environment, it is really a big story. What I want to tell you is that campus and society are very different, and ideals and reality are very different. On campus, what you see and hear about community organizations or other organizations on BBS is really dwarfed by the complexity of society. Therefore, my suggestion here is that from the beginning of internship, I will gradually learn to restrain my personality, be a low-key person and do things with high profile. Being a low-key person does not mean that you have no personality at all, nor does it mean that you wear a mask to deceive people. You must have your own bottom line when you do anything, and you must stick to your principles when you should. It's just that if you are too sharp-edged from the beginning, you should consider what your peers who practice in the same company will think of you, and whether your predecessors in the company think you are smart or too impetuous. There is no need to make too many enemies during internship and work.

There is no need to make colleagues misunderstand that you are too impetuous and unpractical without knowing each other. High-profile work does not mean that every time you do something, you should let everyone know that you have done it, but you should do it conscientiously, but you don't have to "show off" with everyone, just let the boss know at the right time and place. Of course, the above involves a degree, and how to grasp this degree is up to you to decide according to your different situation. As for how to learn to behave in practice, Jane

Simply put, being diligent, asking more questions and observing more, and combining what you have learned from others with your own experience will make you more effective and successful in dealing with similar things in the future.

I'll write so much about the internship advice first, because my writing is limited after all, and many things need to be analyzed in detail. Some things I write are simple, but it will take you a long time to do. As I said, it's never too early to prepare. When you are tired of writing online applications, please think about how your brothers and sisters have come over. Maybe you can think that if you work hard, you will have a chance to enter the company, then you will have motivation. . . . . . . .
