The Historical Evolution of Yansi Town

Yanmiao, formerly known as Yanmiao Town, was under the jurisdiction of Shexian County, Huizhou before the establishment of Dahuangshan City, 1987, and is now the seat of Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Huizhou. From the Neolithic cultural site of Tongzishan in the suburb of Yansi, it can be proved that as early as 4,500 years ago, there were ancient people living in Yansi area. According to the records of Gan Long's engraving "Cao Zhi in Rock Town", there are nearly 10 caves excavated by sages on the hillside in Wuli, south of Fengle. It is called Xiaoyan Temple and Gu Yan Temple. In the first year of Dali in Tang Daizong (AD 766), Shan Yun, a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty, wrote a suicide note of his ancestors, gathered scholars from all over the country to build a mansion here and created the Sanmo Holy Land. There are countless temples in the east and west, when there were as many as 500 monks inside. Because the temple was built in front of the cave, the Tang Dynasty gave it the name "Rock Temple". There is "Guyan Temple Spring" behind the temple, which was listed as one of the "Four Springs in Shexian County" by Xu Fangcheng in Ming Dynasty. The poem said: "There are countless years of clouds in the ancient temple, and the cliff is bright. Only tourists can take the bottles, and the monks are not allowed to know Yuchuan. " The spring water is several miles east of Fengshan, behind the ancient rock temple, and now it is nowhere to be found. In the second year of Emperor Gaozong Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 132), the town was ordered to be built (formerly known as Yongchang Township). In the 24th year of Hongwu in Ming Taizu (A.D. 139 1), it was changed to Qingtaili in Yongfeng Township. At this time, the rock temple has a certain scale. Extending to Jia and Long, it is a bustling town with huge houses, various industries, chariots and horses, and Lido, and has become a bustling town of "thousands of feet, Shiligui and Merchants".

1958 established yansi commune, 1965 changed town. 1997, covering an area of 90.9 square kilometers.
