How to write a recruitment report
Similar to the structure of general news messages, the first paragraph always contains an introduction:
The introduction refers to the first natural paragraph or sentence of a message. It uses concise and vivid words to write the most important and fresh facts in the news, and clearly reminds the theme of the news.
The requirements of the introduction are, first, to grasp the core of the matter, and second, to attract readers to read on. To achieve the first one, one must have well-trained analytical skills; to achieve the second one, one must have writing skills.
The thinking process in introduction writing usually starts with the author’s self-questions and answers:
①What is the most important thing that has happened?
②Who participated? ——Who did it or who said it?
③Should we use a direct introduction or a delayed introduction?
④Are there any attractive words or vivid phrases to include in the introduction?
⑤What is the theme? What verbs are most effective at engaging readers?
Among the above five questions, the third question involves the type of introduction. So, what are the types of introductions?
One type is the direct introduction: an introduction that directly writes the core of the fact. Mostly declarative, reflecting facts like shorthand.
The other type is delayed introduction: mostly used for "soft" news. That is, what is reported is not a developing, changing or sudden event. It is usually used to set a scene or create a certain atmosphere. Most of them are explanatory and illustrative.
The main forms of introduction are:
1. Narrative. Use excerpts or comprehensive methods to concisely write the freshest and most important facts in the news.
2. Descriptive style. Make a concise and distinctive description of the main facts or a meaningful aspect of the news to create an atmosphere.
3. Questioning style. First expose the contradiction, raise the question clearly and sharply, and then give a brief answer to arouse the reader's attention and thinking.
4. Conclusion. Write the conclusion at the beginning to indicate the meaning or purpose or summary of reporting something.
5. Call to action. Put forward a call to action and point out the direction and goals to readers.
In addition, there are summary type, review type, comprehensive type, explanation type, etc.
(3) Body
This is the backbone of the message. It follows the introduction and gives a detailed and comprehensive explanation of the introduction, specifically developing the facts or further highlighting the center, so as to write the content summarized in the introduction and express the theme of the entire message. You should write in "chronological order" or "logical order", but you still have to write the main ones first and then the minor ones.
(4) Background
1. What is background? News background refers to the historical background of the event, surrounding environment and connections with other aspects. When writing news, you sometimes need to explain the background. The purpose is to help readers deeply understand the content and value of the news, and to serve as a foil and deepen the theme. That is to answer the "Why" in the five "W".
Western journalism believes that background is the explanation of news events. American journalism scholar Lester said it very clearly: "I can't see the difference between news background and explanation." "Explanation, in my opinion, is the in-depth study of news reports. It is to put a single news event into one "Writing about a series of events" "is to provide background knowledge of the news so that readers can make objective judgments about the news events."
But "explanation" is not an argument, the explanation itself is a fact, that is. Talk about explaining with facts. Therefore, news background is also called "factual background".
2. What are the functions of background?
The first function is to explain the cause of the news event.
The second function is to show or help readers understand the importance of news events.
The third function is to highlight the news value of press releases.
The fourth function is to express the reporter’s point of view. Journalists are not allowed to comment in the news, but no one can prohibit reporters from expressing their positions and opinions through the news they write. There is no such thing as purely objective reporting.
3. How many types of backgrounds are there? There are three common types: comparative, illustrative, and annotative.
Some journalism divides background into four types: character background, geographical background, historical background and object background.
(5) Endings: The endings of news include summary, inspiration, call to action, analysis, outlook, etc. These ending writings are not much different from the writing at the end of general narratives.
