There are several universities in Songyuan.

According to the query of college students' essential network, Songyuan Vocational and Technical College, located in Songyuan City, Jilin Province, is the only ordinary college. Its predecessor was Jilin Oilfield Workers College, which was founded in 1984.

Songyuan is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, located in the middle and west of Jilin Province, in the triangle of Harbin, Changchun and Daqing, at the southern end of Songnen Plain, by the beautiful Songhua River, bordering Changchun and Siping in the south, Baicheng and Tongliao in Inner Mongolia in the west, and facing Zhaoyuan County, Zhaodong and Harbin in Heilongjiang Province across the Songhua River in the north.
