How to deal with solid waste

The methods of solid waste treatment include landfill, incineration, mechanical compaction, chemical treatment and biological treatment.

1. Landfill method: the solid waste is directly buried on the surface, and the microorganisms and oxygen in the soil are used for natural degradation. This method is simple, but it needs a lot of land and is easy to cause environmental pollution.

2. Incineration method: solid waste is heated at high temperature to oxidize and decompose organic matter into carbon dioxide and water. This method can reduce the volume of solid waste, but it will produce harmful substances such as toxic gases and dioxins.

3. Mechanical compaction method: the solid waste is compressed into blocks by mechanical pressure, which reduces the volume and is convenient for transportation and treatment. This method has little impact on the environment, but it is only suitable for some types of solid waste.

4. Chemical treatment method: the harmful substances in solid waste are converted into harmless substances or into a form that is easy to treat through chemical reaction. This method has little impact on the environment, but it needs to consume a lot of chemical reagents and energy.

5. Biological treatment method: the organic matter in solid waste is decomposed by microorganisms and converted into carbon dioxide and water. This method has little impact on the environment, but it needs a lot of time and space, and the processing speed is slow.
