National Engineering Technology Research Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Metal Mineral Resources, National Engineering Research Center for Non-pollution Nonferrous Metal Extraction and Energy Saving Technology, National Magnetic Material Engineering Technology Research Center, National Nonferrous Metal Quality Supervision and Testing Center, and National Nonferrous Metal Commodity Inspection Laboratory. The academic organizations relying on the Institute include China Engineering Blasting Association, Mineral Processing Academic Committee of China Nonferrous Metals Society, Mineral Processing Academic Committee of China Mining Association and China Mineral Processing Information Network.
The Institute has 2,300 employees, including 3 academicians of China Academy of Engineering and more than 300 technicians with senior titles or above. The focus of the research institute is to carry out process research, equipment development and engineering design closely around metal mines and non-metal mines. New achievements have been made in the development of new equipment. The research institute completed the project of "Development of PA 100 120 crusher with low external movable jaw and large crushing ratio", and applied the random fuzzy theory of crushing force distribution, the dynamic balance theory of mechanism and the simplified model of line contact four-bar variable-length rod crusher to innovate a crusher with independent intellectual property rights, novel structure and excellent performance. Compared with the traditional jaw crusher with the same specification, the production capacity is increased by more than 15%, the energy consumption is reduced by about 15%, the service life of jaw plate is increased by more than 2 times, the height of the whole machine is reduced by 16%, and the feeding height is reduced by 37.5%. The technical performance of this machine has reached the international leading level, and it is the largest external jaw crusher at present, creating a good performance.

Based on the long-term accumulation in the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources and the scientific development and application of ultrafine functional materials, the Institute independently developed a variety of functional ecological mineral materials with antibacterial and magnetic therapy health care functions to meet the needs of human health and the environment. Environmental-friendly tourmaline minerals are selected, and through special processing technology, the particles are distributed in submicron narrow size, with good dispersibility and good matching with other components in chemical fiber, paint and coating; Then through nano-film deposition technology, adding heat-sensitive valence-changing elements, the particles are chemically coated and doped, and finally the particles are spherical and regular, and a large number of free radicals are generated on the surface, which makes the powder have extremely high surface activity, which is the perfect embodiment of the functional design concept of products in advanced material preparation technology.
In recent years, Beijing Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy has successfully developed an externally heated φ2500 rotary calciner for kaolin calcination, and successfully put it into operation in Shanxi Datong Changan Kaolin Co., Ltd. to produce coated calcined kaolin, successfully solving the problem that high-quality kaolin calcination depends on imported equipment and technology.
