Shanghai Health Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general higher vocational and technical college officially approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government on 20 10 and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is under the management of Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and its business is under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The college, formerly known as Shanghai Staff Medical College, was founded on1957,2001with the approval of Shanghai Education Commission. It is listed as a higher vocational enrollment school in colleges and universities and has become one of the important bases for training higher vocational talents in Shanghai's health industry. Over the past 50 years, the College has sent tens of thousands of health applied technical talents to the country, enjoying a good social reputation, and is known as "the messenger of health promotion and the cradle of angels in white". Since 1999, the college has been awarded the title of "Shanghai Civilized Unit" for five consecutive years.

The college has two campuses, Chongming and Meilong, covering an area of nearly 200 mu. Chongming Campus is located in the middle of Chongming Island with beautiful ecological environment, adjacent to Dongping National Forest Park, and directly accessible by Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel Bridge. Meilong Campus is located in the southwest corner of the city, adjacent to East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Institute of Socialism and Shanghai Middle School. The college has modern nursing training center, medical biotechnology open training center, medical imaging technology training center and stomatology technology training room. Libraries, complete demonstration classrooms, professional experimental training rooms, multimedia classrooms, well-equipped playgrounds, basketball courts, indoor gymnastics rooms and other facilities provide good conditions and environments for students to study and live.

In order to encourage students to develop morally, intellectually, physically and aesthetically in an all-round way, besides implementing the national scholarship policy, the college has also set up various scholarship programs, such as Kawasaki Scholarship in Japan, Birth Award of Shanghai Institute of Biological Products, and Student Spiritual Civilization Construction Award.
