Shanghai Health Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general higher vocational and technical college officially approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government on 20 10 and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is under the management of Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and its business is under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The college, formerly known as Shanghai Staff Medical College, was founded on1957,2001with the approval of Shanghai Education Commission. It is listed as a higher vocational enrollment school in colleges and universities and has become one of the important bases for training higher vocational talents in Shanghai's health industry. Over the past 50 years, the College has sent tens of thousands of health applied technical talents to the country, enjoying a good social reputation, and is known as "the messenger of health promotion and the cradle of angels in white". Since 1999, the college has been awarded the title of "Shanghai Civilized Unit" for five consecutive years.

The college has two campuses, Chongming and Meilong, covering an area of nearly 200 mu. Chongming Campus is located in the middle of Chongming Island with beautiful ecological environment, adjacent to Dongping National Forest Park, and directly accessible by Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel Bridge.
