History:1On March 5th, 908, the British businessman Shanghai Trams Co., Ltd. opened the first tram in Shanghai, and all subsequent trams were opened in the city center. Since 1960, old trams have seriously affected urban traffic and have been demolished one after another. 1975, 12, 1, the last tram line in Shanghai (Hongkou Park-Wujiaochang) was demolished, and the tram has become a memory of many people now. In mid-May, 2002, a broadcast media in Shanghai revealed to the outside world that Shanghai Public Transport Industry Group Corporation was drafting a plan a few days ago, and would take the lead in launching trams on Sichuan Road and Renmin Road. In July, Shanghai Urban Planning Institute completed the feasibility study on the recovery and development of trams, and planned to lay out tram lines 14, with a total length of about 254 kilometers. The idea was to spread them in the city center. In 2006, it was proposed to build a tram on the North Bund. In 2008, the first batch of tram drivers on the North Bund were recruited. It was originally expected that this line would be used as a supporting project for the 20 10 Shanghai World Expo, but the plan was cancelled on 20 10. At the end of 20 12, Sun Jianping, director of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Communications and Ports, said that Shanghai planned to develop a tram network with a distance of 800 km to 1000 km, which would basically serve new towns and large residential communities. The reason is that new towns need transportation systems, but the cost of building high-capacity systems is too high. As a system with medium passenger capacity, tram has become one of the choices of MRT system. The idea of planning trams in Shanghai is very different, but it also needs a demonstration line.
