The Second Military Medical University, the full name of China People's Liberation Army Second Military Medical University, is a national key medical university directly under the Training Management Department of the Central Military Commission of China, which trains medical professionals and health management cadres for the army. It is a key construction institution of the national "2 1 1 Project", the military "2 1 10 Project" and the General Logistics Department's "530 Project". It is one of the three military units that set up graduate schools, the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units in China and the first batch of institutions that offer eight-year medical education. The Second Military Medical University was founded in September 1949, when it was called People's Medical College of East China Military Region. It is mainly composed of some personnel from East China Medical Cadre School, Medical College of the Ministry of Health of the Third Field Army, former National Defense Medical College of the Kuomintang and experts and professors recruited from local areas. 1950 10, renamed Shanghai Military Medical University. On July 9th, 195 1 was officially named the Second Military Medical University by the Central Military Commission.
