It is adjacent to the Yangtze River, Qiujiang Street and Wusha Town to the north, 43 kilometers from Guichi District to the northeast, and 204 kilometers from the provincial capital Hefei to the north, with a total area of ??113 square kilometers. Historical evolution:

In the early days of liberation, it belonged to Wutian Township. In 1957, Wutian Township was changed to Tongshan Township. In 1958, Tongshan Township and Guanshan Township merged to form Tongshan Commune. In 1984, Tongshan Commune was changed to Tongshan Township. In 2001, Tongshan Township was abolished and Niutoushan Town was established. In 2007, Mucha Township was merged into Niutoushan Town.
