Introduction of Kitakyushi

Bugu Temple, formerly known as Mazu Temple, is famous for its temples and is located in the south gate of Tianzhu Mountain Scenic Area. According to legend, in the Tang Dynasty, a Zen master from Mazu Road in Heng Yue traveled around the world and meditated in Jiaping Hall at the south gate of Tianzhu Mountain. In memory of Master Mazu, local villagers built a temple next to the museum to offer incense and named it "Mazu". In the 25th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1597), Wu Yingbin, a scholar in Tongcheng, and Ruan, a scholar in Huaining, admired his lofty fame, so they welcomed him to Ximazu Temple and donated huge sums of money to build it for him. In the twenty-seventh year of Wanli (1599), Zongshen sent envoys to the party to offer scriptures and changed Mazu 'an to Beikeji.
