The registration period for community workers in 2023 is expected to start in April.

Community workers refer to those who are selected by the two committees and one station (party committee, party organization, neighborhood committee, community service station) of each street (town) or community after certain selection or open recruitment procedures. The application requirements for community workers: a college degree in social work; a college degree in a social work-related major, and formal training as a social worker to meet the standard hours and obtain a completion certificate. Social workers are personnel who engage in specialized social service work in social service institutions such as social welfare, social charity, disability rehabilitation, medical and health care, youth services, and judicial corrections.

The examination contents for community workers are also different depending on the recruiting units and announcements. The recruitment examination for community workers includes a written test and an interview.

The content of the written test may generally include "Professional Knowledge and Practice of Community Work", "Basic Knowledge of Public Affairs", "Administrative Ability Test", "Comprehensive Ability Test", knowledge and analysis of current affairs and politics, etc. , to test the candidates’ problem-solving abilities. Interviews generally take the form of structured interviews.

According to the relevant arrangements of the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on the Vocational Qualification Examination Plan for Professional and Technical Personnel in 2022 and Related Matters" (Human Resources and Social Security Department [2022] No. 3), social work in 2022 The professional qualification examination will be held on June 18th and 19th, and the examination format will be a paper-based examination.
