Peacock Flying Southeast is the longest narrative poem in Chinese folk songs of Han Yuefu. It was first seen in Xu Ling's new poem "Ancient Poems for Jiao Zhongqing's Wife" in the Southern Dynasties. Guo Maoqian's Yuefu Poems in Song Dynasty included it in Miscellaneous Songs, named Jiao Zhongqing's Wife. The creation time of Peacock Flying Southeast was roughly during the Jian 'an period of Emperor Xian of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The author is unknown. There are more than 340 sentences in the whole poem, 1700 words. Mainly because she married Jiao's family and was sent back to her family, her brother forced her to remarry. On their wedding night, Lan Zhi drowned. From the end of the Han Dynasty to the Southern Dynasties, this poem was widely circulated among the people and continuously processed, and finally became the most outstanding long narrative poem among Yuefu folk songs in the Han Dynasty.

Zhang Henshui: Peacocks fly southeast.

Zhang Henshui (1895—— 1967) was born in Qian Shan. "Hate water", formerly known as Zhang Xinyuan, is a pen name, which comes from the last sentence of "Wu Ye Article" by Li Yu, Queen of Southern Tang Dynasty. It means that when people grow up, they hate water growing in the east, which means that they hope life will not pass by in a hurry. Zhang Henshui's tireless hard work can be said to have realized his wish to use this name. 19 13 Zhang Henshui was admitted to the Mongolian-Tibetan Reclamation School founded by Sun Yat-sen, and tried to write novels and submit them to magazines. 19 17 joined the publishing house. Before liberation, he worked as an editor and journalist in many famous newspapers in Beijing, Nanjing, Chongqing and Shanghai. In the early 1930s, he was a consultant of the Ministry of Culture of China and a librarian of the China Institute of Literature and History. After liberation, he was elected as the director of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chinese Writers Association. The long-term journalist career and extensive contact and understanding of life provide unique conditions for Zhang Henshui's novel creation. Most of his novels are realistic reflections of social history. During the period of Northern Warlords, his novels exposed the usurpation and cruelty of warlord rule, such as The Cause of Crying and Laughing. During the period of Kuomintang reactionaries' rule, especially after the September 18th Incident, his novels praised the anti-Japanese heroes, criticized the corruption of reactionary bureaucrats, and led a life of drunkenness and cruel exploitation, such as "Northeast Four Company Commanders" (later renamed as Yangliuqing) and "Eighty-one Dreams". After liberation, despite the deterioration of health due to cerebral hemorrhage, a number of beautiful myths, legends and historical stories in ancient China were rewritten to meet people's aesthetic needs in a happy socialist life, such as Peacock Flying Southeast and Legend of the White Snake. Zhang Henshui's novels are characterized by twists and turns, rigorous and complete layout, simple and natural language, and always follow the style of quoting classics loved by the broad masses of the people in China. He believes that using this popular technique can win readers from all walks of life to the maximum extent. 1945, Mao Zedong went to Chongqing for peace talks. He talked with Zhang Henshui for more than two hours and gave him a piece of woolen cloth made in Yan 'an and some red dates and millet. Zhang Henshui made a suit of Chinese tunic suit with this woolen cloth, which he often wore to various important meetings after liberation. At that time, Zhang Henshui was the head of Xinmin Daily in Chongqing. He took the lead in publishing Mao Zedong's masterpiece "Qin Xinyuan Yong Xue" in the evening paper, signed by Mao Runzhi, and added a note: "Mao Runzhi's poems seem to be little known. People who have copied the words "Qin Yong Xue" have a unique style, rich literary talent and emotion, and great boldness of vision. " The publication of this word has caused a sensation in the whole mountain city for some time. Zhang Henshui shows superhuman diligence and assiduousness in writing. He is often invited by several newspapers to write serial novels at the same time, and at most he has to provide 6-7 manuscripts a day. He has a tight grasp of time. During the Anti-Japanese War in Chongqing, enemy planes circled overhead, and sometimes he even refused to go to the bomb shelter, so he devoted himself to writing novels. After the stroke, he kept writing, his mouth was crooked and his mouth was drooling. His old friend Zhang Youluan commented on him like this: "Hate water is a successful novel writer. His life is a life of writing novels; The pyramid was built stone by stone, and his success was written word by word, with no benefit in it. After decades of hard work, perseverance and persistence, this spirit deserves respect and learning. "
