CNOOC is a very large state-owned enterprise (central enterprise) directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China. It is China's largest offshore oil and gas producer. Since its establishment, CNOOC has maintained a good development momentum as an upstream company solely engaged in oil and gas exploration. On July 12, 2017, China National Offshore Oil Corporation was awarded Grade A in the 2016 operating performance assessment by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. In 2018, CNOOC ranked 87th on the Fortune Global 500 list and 6th on Forbes' 2018 list of the world's best employers. On December 5, the CEO of China National Offshore Oil Corporation won the Best Listed Company CEO at the 8th Hong Kong International Financial Forum and China Securities Gold and Bauhinia Awards.
