The Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University was founded in 1949, formerly known as Hengyang People's Hospital. Later, it was renamed Hengyang First People's Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College and Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College. In 2000, it was renamed the Second Affiliated Hospital of South China University. It is the third teaching hospital in Hunan Province after the First Affiliated Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xiangya.
