Compal Computer is the second largest notebook computer OEM in the world, second only to Quanta Computer Co., Ltd., but at present, almost all Compal computer production capacity comes from Kunshan factory. In order to spread customer risks to a certain extent, Compal Computer began to plan to set up a factory in Vietnam in 2006.

June 5438+October 2007 10, Compal Computer obtained the investment license issued by the Vietnamese government. It is reported that the factory in Vietnam will start trial production in the fourth quarter of this year, and mass production is expected to begin in early 2009. The first phase investment is about 30 million US dollars, and it is planned to further expand the production line with a total investment of 500 million US dollars.

There is no denying that the heaviest burden of Compal computer is the cost. This is particularly sensitive to the manufacturing industry with thin profits. The gross profit margin of Compal Computer in 2007 was close to 4.7%-4.8%.

In addition, the attitude of the Vietnamese government is very positive. Vietnamese media reported that the Vietnamese government will give Compal Computer Company preferential tax policies such as corporate tax reduction and exemption. Among them, the new factory will be exempted from enterprise income tax within ten years after the start of construction, and the enterprise income tax will be halved within the next ten years.

Compal Computer Planning predicts that in the next five years, half of notebook computer production will be transferred to Vietnam, and the production bases in China and Vietnam will each have half production capacity.

Compal Computer will be the first notebook computer manufacturer to set up a factory in Vietnam. According to the investment plan, the products of Compal Chengdu base project include notebook computers, all-in-one machines, tablet computers, televisions and so on.
