As a gift from heaven to the earth, Taihang Mountain has nurtured generations of people with its rich products and lush mountains and rivers. It has been the favorite camp of military strategists in the past dynasties. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was the general rear area of ??the Eighth Route Army. Relying on the Taihang Mountains, the heroic Chinese people tenaciously blocked and crushed the invaders' attacks again and again, setting an example and confidence for the Chinese people to resist the invaders.

Today I would like to introduce to you the Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area located in Qixian Town, Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. In China, Yuntai Mountain is very famous. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a household name and everyone knows it.

Yuntai Mountain is one of the first batch of global geoparks in the world, and one of the first tourist attractions in China to be rated as a 5A-level scenic spot.

Relying on the beautiful natural scenery of South Taihang, through reasonable planning and development, and relying on high-quality operation and management, Yuntai Mountain has formed a good reputation at home and abroad for a long time and won unanimous praise from tourists. It is one of the attractions that foreign tourists cannot miss when traveling to Henan.

What Yuntai Mountain offers tourists is firstly its mature management, and secondly its complete supporting facilities. Tourists have a good travel experience and a low complaint rate.

We went to Yuntai Mountain during the National Day last year. It was the peak period of the tourist season. The number of tourists in the scenic spot exceeded 60,000 people a day. Although the scenic spot is very crowded, especially when going to Hongshixia, where you have to wait in line for a long time, I have to say that the management and services of Yuntai Mountain are really in place. Facing the flow of tens of thousands of people, the traffic in Yuntai Mountain can be said to be perfect. The huge flow of passengers can be evacuated and diverted to other attractions in a short time.

Speaking of the supporting facilities in Yuntai Mountain, in addition to the public facilities such as public toilets, roads and signs in the scenic area, there are bus interchanges within the scenic area starting from the visitor center at regular intervals. The site is a small market where shopping, food and accommodation are very convenient, and the prices are relatively reasonable. As long as you are in the scenic area, you can get on the bus and go to any scenic spot at any time, which is really very convenient. From the outside to the inside, there are five service areas: Wujiatai, Gudongyao, Heishiling, Anshang and Zifang. It is said that these five service areas were originally five villages. Later, the scenic spots were unified and transformed, thus becoming service places that are convenient for tourists to eat, live, and shop. Friends who want to stay in Yuntai Mountain can choose to stay in any of the five service areas mentioned above. Among them, the shore service area has the best location, the most complete facilities, and the busiest one. Many travel guides recommend shore service areas.

The scenic spots in Yuntai Mountain, from outside to inside, are: Baijia Rock, Hongshi Gorge, Wanshan Temple, Zifang Lake, Macaque Valley, Quanpu Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, Diecai Cave and Zhu Yufeng et al. It will take at least 2 days to visit all these attractions.

Tickets for Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area are valid for 3 days, but each attraction can only be entered once within the validity period. If you go, it’s best to avoid the peak hours during holidays, otherwise the long queues will really crush you.

For the beautiful scenery of Yuntai Mountain, Hongshi Gorge is the first place to visit. This is the essence of the Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area. It is a must-visit attraction for every tourist who comes to Yuntai Mountain. It is also where the scenery pictures are widely publicized on the promotional page.

Different from the canyons in other scenic spots, Hongshi Gorge is located at a lower level, at the foot of the tourist highway. To go to Hongshixia Scenic Area, you need to go to the opposite mountain through a bridge built in the middle of the canyon.

Looking from the bridge, the entrance to Hongshi Gorge is actually a "line of sky" formed by a mountain divided into two by the river.

After crossing the bridge, spiral down along the opposite ridge, then pass through a plank road built halfway up the mountain, pass through a man-made cave, and then pass through a crack on the cliff to enter the valley bottom.

The entire mountain and cliffs of Hongshi Gorge are deep red, and the stream at the bottom of the valley is gurgling and rushing. Tourists zigzag through the cliffs on one side of the sky. The valley is deep and long, and the mountain is cut by the adult stream. It has formed various shapes. During the journey, the scenery changes with each step, which is so beautiful. It is indeed the most important scenic spot in Yuntai Mountain.

The northern end of Hongshi Gorge is where Zifang Lake is located. Zifang is Zhang Liang who assisted Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, to achieve great achievements. Legend has it that Zhang Liang once trained troops here and later lived in seclusion here. Later generations called this place Zifang Village after Zhang Liang. Later, a reservoir was built here by damming the river, and it was naturally named Zifang Lake.

It is said that the day we went there was October 5th. We rushed over from the direction of Shaanzhou Dikengyuan in Sanmenxia early that morning. Since I didn’t do any planning in advance, I didn’t know anything about this place. As soon as we arrived at the parking lot at the gate of the scenic spot, there were many accommodation soliciting girls asking if we wanted accommodation. The ticket prices were the same, but we could take our car directly in through a detour and save on parking fees. So, before the car stopped, we followed her to a farmhouse in the mountains. It turns out that this is the Wujiatai service area closest to the gate.

After settling in, we took the scenic bus to the shore service area, because we can buy tickets to enter the mountain here. After buying the tickets, we went straight to the most famous Hongshi Gorge. Unexpectedly, when we arrived at the scene, we saw people queuing up one after another. It was a sea of ??people, which can be described as overwhelming. We queued for a while and then decisively quit, deciding to go to the innermost Quanpu Gorge first. Later, it was proved that my decision was very correct. Although there were a lot of people inside, there was no need to queue. By the time we finished going through Quanpu Gorge, turned back, and came to Hongshi Gorge, there were far fewer people. Although it was still crowded, at least we passed the ticket gate quickly.

Quanpu Gorge, Tanpu Gorge and Macaque Valley are in the same direction, and are called Xiaozhaigou Scenic Area. Tickets are also required to enter the scenic spot here, and the Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area also stipulates that these three scenic spots must be visited at one time. Because these three attractions share one ticket gate, they are divided into three branch roads after arriving. If you transfer to them all, you must visit them all at once. Otherwise, once you go out and return again, the tickets here will be invalid. Due to time constraints, we only went to the innermost Quanpu Gorge.

To be honest, I have been to a lot of the scenery in the Taihang Mountains. In fact, most of them are similar and have the same style. The biggest difference is often in the water, some water is big and some water is small. Where the water is large, there are often deep ditches and secluded valleys.

Coming out of Hongshi Gorge via Zifang Lake, it was getting late, so we took the bus back to the inn. On the second day, we visited another famous scenic spot, Zhuyu Peak. On the way to Zhuyu Peak, we passed the famous Diecai Cave, but unfortunately we could only watch it from the car.

When visiting Yuntai Mountain, there are two must-visit attractions, one is Hongshi Gorge and the other is Zhuyu Peak.

Zhuyu Peak is commonly known as Xiaobeiding, with an altitude of 1,308 meters. There is a Zhenwu Emperor Temple on the top of the peak, which is built against the danger and is extremely spectacular. There are two ways to climb Zhuyu Peak. One is the hiking trail from Wanshan Temple, and the other is what we took this time, taking the scenic transportation bus to Zhuyu Peak parking lot.

"I am a stranger in a foreign land, and I miss my family members even more during the festive season. Zhuyu Peak is the highest point of Yuntai Mountain. There is also a thrilling glass plank road around the mountain. When we went there, the cable car to Fenghuangling had just been built and was not yet open to the public. Let’s go now. There is one more cableway to choose from.

To sum up, our trip to Yuntai Mountain lasted a day and a half just for fun, and we only visited three scenic spots: Quanpu Gorge, Hongshi Gorge and Zhuyu Peak. . Among them, I didn’t go to Tanpu Gorge and Macaque Valley in Xiaotangou, I didn’t go to Wanshan Temple, and I didn’t go to Baijia Rock near Shanmen Square. In terms of scenery, Hongshi Gorge is actually the only one worth visiting in Yuntai Mountain, but because there are too many tourists here, the experience will be greatly reduced. If you can choose to appreciate and experience it when there are few people, it is real tourism.
