Law of the People's Police of the People's Republic of China Article 1 This Law is formulated in accordance with the Constitution in order to safeguard national security and social order, protect citizens' legitimate rights and interests, strengthen the construction of the people's police force, strictly control the police, improve the quality of the police, ensure that the people's police exercise their functions and powers according to law, and ensure the smooth progress of reform, opening up and socialist modernization.
