Three years later, the Tangshan earthquake caused serious damage to buildings. 1979, Hangu No.3 Middle School (formerly Hanguzhai Middle School, now Hangu No.9 Middle School) merged with Hangu No.5 Middle School. 1986, the dilapidated buildings damaged by the earthquake were demolished and Hangu No.5 Middle School was built. 1987, the new teaching building of Hangu No.5 Middle School was completed. 1At the end of 987, teachers and students of Hangu No.5 Middle School moved into the new building.
