The English major of Tianjin Normal University has a long history, and it is the second English major established in Tianjin after Nankai University. 65438-0960, Tianjin Foreign Language Normal School was established in Tianjin. This school was later merged into Tianjin Normal University and became the predecessor of the Department of Foreign Languages, which is the School of Foreign Languages of Tianjin Normal University. At that time, there were only two majors in English and Russian. At present, the English teachers in our college are neat and tidy, and the teaching effect is good, which enjoys high prestige in Tianjin and even the whole country. Professional teachers have a reasonable knowledge structure, covering many fields of English teaching and research, forming five research groups: linguistics, translation studies, British and American literature, British and American culture and foreign language teaching methods. Among them, linguistics and translation research teams are strong and occupy a leading position in Tianjin universities. There are 39 teachers in English Department, including 8 professors, 3 associate professors and 8 lecturers, including 4 doctors and 4 doctoral students. Hire 2-4 foreign teachers every year. There are more than 700 students.

In addition to offering basic English courses, some practical and applied courses are also offered according to the current social and market needs. Since 2006, Japanese Department has enrolled 90 students in 3 classes every year. We always believe that teaching quality is the lifeline of undergraduate teaching. According to the arrangement of the school, we carefully revised the teaching plan in 2009 to promote the coordinated development of scale and quality. In order to better meet the needs of social development, the Japanese Department began to implement bilingual (Japanese and English) teaching (English as a minor) in 2005.

Japanese Department trains applied professionals who can engage in education, diplomacy, foreign trade, foreign-related enterprise management and information processing. Students are required to have a solid grasp of the basic knowledge of Japanese language and culture, have the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, and have a high level of English. In the past few years, we have sent more than a dozen international students and trainees to sister universities and practice bases in Japan every year. We actively organize students to participate in various Japanese competitions. For many years, every year, students have won prizes in Japanese professional speech competitions in Tianjin and universities across the country. Among them, in 2007, he won the second prize in the All-China Japanese Speech Competition. In recent years, the employment rate of Japanese graduates is 100%. In the past six years, the number of graduate students admitted to universities at home and abroad has reached 37. There are 6 teachers in Russian Department, including 2 full professors and 4 lecturers. In recent years, the teaching achievement of Russian Language Department is gratifying, and it has won many awards in major national competitions. Postgraduate entrance examination and the rate of going abroad are among the best in all majors. Among the 2007 graduates, five students were admitted to Nankai University, Zhejiang University, Capital Normal University and Beijing Institute of International Relations. Korean Language Department has been implementing bilingual teaching in Korean and English since it enrolled undergraduates in 2003. In order to better meet the needs of society, we always regard teaching quality as the highest standard for cultivating students. In order to better improve students' listening, speaking, reading and writing ability, we adopt the teaching mode of 3+ 1, that is, studying in China for three years and studying in Korean universities (Shi Chong University, Central University, North Korea University, etc.). ) Do it again as an exchange student 1 year.
