Historical Evolution of Dai Hospital in Xishuangbanna

Xishuangbanna Institute of Ethnic Medicine, formerly known as the National Laboratory of Ethnic Medicine, was established in 1977. Comrade Zhao Cunxin, the former governor, as the team leader, specializes in the collection of ancient books, clinical records, inspection, secret recipes and traditional prescriptions of Dai medicine and the investigation of ethnic medicine. 1979 Xishuangbanna Institute of Ethnic Medicine was formally established.1In April 1988, Xishuangbanna Dai Medical Hospital was established on the basis of the institute, which became an organic whole integrating scientific research, clinic and teaching, with leaders and main technicians as the backbone of scientific research and clinicians. Scientific research products are used in clinic, and clinical feedback guides scientific research, forming a virtuous circle, which makes scientific research achievements and product functions adjust in time and effectively shortens the product development cycle.
