According to the administrative planning website, Nanxiang Township was built in the first year of Qing Dynasty (1909), renamed the 10th Township in the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), renamed Chennan City in the sixth year of the Republic of China, renamed the second district in the sixth year of the Republic of China and renamed nanxiang town in the third year of the Republic of China. 1956, the evacuation area is the township; 1958, establishing Nanxiang commune; 1983 merged with nanxiang town, still known as nanxiang town. The jurisdiction connects Baoshan District in the east, Putuo District and Fengbang Town in the south, Tai Fang Town and Ma Lu Town in the west and north, and the town government is located in Nanxiang. Therefore, Fengbang Town in Jiading District borders Nanxiang.

Fengbang Town is located in the western suburbs of Shanghai, at the southernmost tip of Jiading District. For the first time in history, the word "gang" was used as the name of the organization.
