How many Kaiyuan temples are there in China?

There are three Kaiyuan temples in China.

1, kaiyuan temple in Xiamen. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, there were 120 branches, of which only 12 branches were left, with an area exceeding 10000 square meters. Kaiyuan Temple is located in West Street, Licheng District, Quanzhou City, and is the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian Province. The temple was founded in the second year of the Tang Dynasty (686). It was originally named Lotus Dojo. In the 26th year of Kaiyuan (738), it was renamed Kaiyuan Temple. It was named "Grand Kaiyuan manjuji" in the Yuan Dynasty. It was the largest Buddhist temple in Quanzhou during the Song and Yuan Dynasties, with the most prominent official position. Kaiyuan Temple was destroyed twice in history, and most of the existing buildings were rebuilt in Ming Dynasty. 1982, Kaiyuan Temple was listed as the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

2. Kaiyuan Temple in Putuo Mountain. Founded in the Tang Dynasty, during the reign of Emperor Taizong, an Indian monk Shancai came here, witnessed the appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva and presented him with seven-color gems. Kaiyuan Temple in Putuo Mountain is the most famous Guanyin Dojo and Buddhist shrine in China. Its religious activities can be traced back to the rise of the Maritime Silk Road in Qin and Han Dynasties, which promoted the formation of Guanyin Dojo in Putuo Mountain, and quickly became the center of Buddhism in China, spreading to Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea and other countries. Its famous scenic spots include Fusaiji, Qianbusha and Guanyin statue.

3. Kaiyuan Temple in Nanchang. It was built in Tian Jian period of Southern Dynasties (502-5 19). Originally known as Shanglan Temple, it was later built into the Giant Buddha Town because of trouble caused by a well near its home. Therefore, in the early Qing Dynasty (547), it was renamed the Big Buddha Temple. During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Kaiyuan Temple. After seven renovations and reconstructions, the temple was named Youmin Temple in 18. There is a giant bronze Buddha in the back hall of the temple, which is 1.6 feet high and weighs 1.8 thousand kilograms. There are thousands of Buddha vats in the front hall, more than 90 Buddha statues are decorated outside the vats, and bronze bells 1 are cast in the south hall. Youmin Temple, with magnificent momentum, is a famous ancient temple in Jiangxi, which has a certain influence on Buddhism in Southeast Asia.

Kaiyuan Temple has been built in many parts of the country. In the 26th year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty ordered the construction of big temples in places where major wars occurred throughout the country, and named them after Kaiyuan. This is the origin of Kaiyuan temples in various places. Kaiyuan Temple is a temple ordered by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty to cross over for the soldiers who died in the land-water war.
