The first undersea high-speed rail tunnel in China will be built from Ningbo to Zhoushan

China’s first undersea high-speed railway tunnel will be built between Ningbo and Zhoushan. I believe many people are excited about this world-class and difficult project and marvel at the power of human civilization and technology. The latest news is detailed below.

Zhejiang Province Zhoushan Municipal Government, Ningbo Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department and other relevant departments announced that China Railway Corporation, Ningbo City, Zhoushan City jointly held a feasibility study review meeting for the new Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway in Beijing.

According to the plan determined at the meeting, this railway will not only end the history of no railway in the Zhoushan Islands, but will also build the country's first undersea high-speed rail tunnel from Beilun to Jintang.

Relevant leaders and experts from the Shanghai Railway Bureau, Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Transportation, Port and Shipping Administration, Ningbo City, and Zhoushan City participated in the review meeting.

The reason why the Yongzhou Railway has attracted widespread public attention is because the Jintang Waterway connecting Beilun and Jintang crosses the sea in the form of a tunnel. In the preliminary plan, the total length of the tunnel is 16.2 kilometers, of which the submarine shield is 10.87 kilometers long.

According to reports, the Yongzhou Railway is designed to have a total length of 77 kilometers and a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It will mainly focus on tourist passenger flow, taking into account inter-city passenger flow.

After the line is completed, it will operate cross-line medium and long-distance EMUs and intercity EMUs between Zhoushan, Ningbo and Hangzhou, transport light cargo, and reserve cold chain logistics EMU transportation conditions.

By then, the fastest trip from Ningbo to Zhoushan will only take 30 minutes, and Hangzhou to Zhoushan will be shortened to about 80 minutes.
