A hands-on captain is not a good captain, because it is difficult to do well in group work by oneself.

The relationship between the captain and his assistant is both superior and subordinate and gay. To handle this relationship well, as a captain, we must strengthen our self-cultivation. If the captain does not have high technical quality, how can he serve the public? What are the technical qualities of the captain?

First of all, the captain must have the basic knowledge of printing machinery, know the structure of the offset press he operates like the back of his hand, be quite skilled in the adjustment method of key components, and judge the mechanical failure accurately. Zheng Banqiao is famous for painting bamboo. He can have a plan. Similarly, the captain should have a whole offset press in his chest. Whether it is a domestic offset press or an imported high-grade offset press, the basic principle is the same, but there are some differences in the specific operation methods. Generally speaking, the probability of mechanical failure of domestic offset press is very high, but it does not mean that imported high-grade offset press will not have mechanical failure. Now some people regard the imported high-grade offset press as a "fool machine", thinking that the offset press can be operated well by pressing a few buttons. This misunderstanding can only lead to their technical stagnation. In the adjustment of offset press, the captain of sheet-fed offset press should focus on the relationship between gripper, gripper, front gauge and side gauge of cylinder and the adjustment of these components themselves, and pay special attention to the adjustment of three major pressures (roller pressure, printing plate pressure and printing pressure). The captain of web offset press should not only adjust the pressure of anilox roller and ink roller and printing pressure, but also focus on tension control and folding mechanism adjustment.

Secondly, we should have a deep understanding of printing materials and master printing technology. We know that paper, ink, wetting liquid, printing plate, blanket, water and ink roller are all called the original materials in the offset printing process. As captains, we must be familiar with the basic composition and performance of these printed materials and their changes in the printing process. In the aspect of printing technology, we should master the variables in offset printing, that is, the temperature and humidity of the environment, the thickness of the ink layer, the amount of wetting liquid, the accumulation of paper wool and ink residue on the blanket and so on. The theory of ink balance and reasonable lining runs through the practice of modern offset printing. Mastering the theory of ink balance and reasonable lining and putting it into practice is the standard to measure the captain's level and the key factor to improve the quality of printed matter. The faults in the printing process are mostly reflected in the use of printing materials and process operation methods.
