Tai'an Geographical Environment

The geotectonic location of Taishan District belongs to the western part of the Tai (An) Lai (Wu) fault depression basin in the northwest of the mid-term quasi-platform Luxi fault block uplift area. In terms of stratigraphic division, it belongs to the Tai'an community in the Luxi subdivision of the North China stratigraphic area. The exposed strata include the Archaean Taishan Rock Group, the Lower Paleozoic Cambrian and Ordovician systems, and the Lower Cenozoic Tertiary and Quaternary systems.

The structures in the area are mainly fault structures, of which two groups of faults are the most developed, namely northeast-northeast and north-northwest. According to geomechanics, there are two groups of yoke torsion crack surfaces belonging to the Neocathaysian system, namely the Taishan type and the Dayishan type. The NE-trending (Taishan type) faults are Taishan fault and Jiezhuang fault (hidden) from north to south; the NW-trending (Dayishan type) faults are Daidaoan fault and Panhe fault from east to west. The Taishan fault is the structural framework fault in this area.
