Therefore, gear oil should have the performance of making the tooth surface in the state of boundary lubrication and elastic hydrodynamic lubrication under high load.

Proper viscosity is the main quality index of gear oil. High viscosity has great bearing capacity, but too high viscosity will also bring difficulties to circulating lubrication, increase the motion resistance of gears, and cause power loss due to heat. Therefore, the viscosity should be appropriate, especially the oil of extreme pressure antiwear agent, whose load resistance mainly depends on extreme pressure antiwear agent, and the viscosity of this kind of oil should not be too high.

It should have good thermal oxidation stability, good wear resistance, load resistance, good foam resistance, good emulsification resistance, good rust resistance, corrosion resistance and good shear stability.

In addition, there are other performance requirements, such as good low-temperature fluidity, adaptability to sealing materials, storage stability, adhesion of open gear oil and so on. ?
