My opinion is that if you want to do petroleum geology work, whether you are in a big city or not, it is a good choice. Your major is right, and your education is high enough. Basically, PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC have many units for you to choose from. However, if you are required to be in a big city, the area will be relatively narrow, and you will basically go to pure scientific research units (even so, many positions in some scientific research units will require employees to go to the front line irregularly, such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Outer Mongolia, Indonesia, Venezuela, Iraq, Sudan and Ethiopia). As far as I know, the units that meet your taste are China Petroleum Exploration Research Institute (with branches in Beijing and Langfang, Hebei) and so on. I don't know exactly how to recruit students. As for Shenzhen, there are basically no high-level oil units. Well, I have a bachelor's degree and do technical work in oil detection.
