Who owns the 5g patent?

The main holders of 5G network patents are not one, but jointly held by Huawei, Qualcomm and Ericsson.

As a communication standard, 5g cannot be owned by a certain country. Qualcomm, Huawei, ZTE and Samsung all have many patents.

At present, the use of patents is generally not self-improvement, but cross-licensing. You use mine, I use yours. Some patents related to 5G belong to Huawei, but not all of them belong to Huawei, including communication technology, network standards and equipment. Huawei is the first enterprise in China to release 3GPP standard 5G commercial chips and 5G commercial terminals, supporting the global mainstream 5G frequency bands, including sub-6GHz and mmWave. Shortly after Huawei released them, the plenary meeting of 3GPPTSGRAN formally established the SA (Independent) scheme of 3GPP5GNR standard.

5G refers to the fifth generation mobile communication technology. According to the Global Report on 5G Patent Activities (2022) issued by China ICT Institute, it can be determined that there are as many as180,000 patents related to 5G in China, accounting for 40% of the global patents. This means that in addition to Huawei, there are other domestic enterprises with related patented technologies, while the total number of patents in other countries accounts for 60%. Some companies with patented technology include Huawei.
