The school was founded in 1983, formerly known as Wuhu United University. In May 1997, it was renamed Wuhu Vocational and Technical College. In August 2000, Wuhu Agricultural School was merged into the school. In May 2012, the school merged with Wuhu Information Technology Vocational College to form the new Wuhu Vocational and Technical College. In 2022, Wuhu Normal School and the Secondary Vocational School Affiliated to Wuhu Vocational and Technical College were integrated into the school to form a Vocational and Technical Normal College.
