Introduction to Wuhan Tianhe Airport

Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (airport 3-letter code: WUH, airport 4-letter code: ZHHH) is a 4F-level airport and is a central China region designated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The only comprehensive hub airport and the largest aircraft maintenance base. The airport has complete facilities and can take off and land various large passenger aircraft. In 2009, the airport's passenger throughput was 11.305 million, ranking 12th in the country. Currently, the airport is undergoing the third phase of expansion and reconstruction project so that it can take off and land Airbus A380 super large aircraft in the future.

Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of reform and opening up, personally inscribed the name of Wuhan Airport. Wuhan Airport is also called Wuhan Tianhe Airport because it is located on Tianhe Street, Huangpi District, Wuhan City.

The straight-line distance between Wuhan Tianhe Airport and Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge is 26 kilometers. The first phase of the project broke ground on December 16, 1990, and was officially opened to traffic as a national first-class civil airport on April 15, 1995.

Currently there are multiple airport bus stations in Wuhan (Civil Aviation Community, Hangkong Road, Yangtze River Plaza, Fujiapo Coach Station, Harbor Plaza Jinjiang Hotel, Xudong Locomotive Stadium, Guo Bin Hotel, Jinjia Dunkou Chi Station, Optics Valley Plaza, Wuhan Railway Station, Qingshan Continental Mall), convenient for passengers to take the bus nearby.
