Concept and content of original geological catalogue

1. Basic concepts of original geological records

Geologists go to the site to carefully observe the ore bodies and various geological phenomena revealed by various exploration and mining projects, and draw and record the characteristics of ore bodies and various geological phenomena truthfully with charts and words, which is called the original geological cataloging work. It is the basic method to collect first-hand geological data. The collected data is the basis of compiling various comprehensive geological maps, the premise of comprehensive research and the important basis for evaluating mineral deposits. The original geological records include geological survey, measured profile, engineering geological records of pit exploration and drilling geological records.

2. The basic contents of the original geological records

The original geological record includes two parts: field record and arrangement. (1) On-site logging refers to the records of macro and micro geological phenomena kept by logging personnel by appropriate information recording means outside the field; (2) Finishing refers to the process that catalogers modify, supplement, draw, tabulate, sort out and archive the contents of on-site cataloging according to the on-site measurement results and the collected identification and inspection data of specimens and samples.
