Why is there so much natural gas in Sichuan Basin?

Sichuan Basin is rich in natural gas for the following reasons:

1, Sichuan basin was once rich in biological species in geological history, as can be seen from the fossils unearthed today. There are many kinds of animals and plants in Sichuan basin, and there are a lot of organic organisms. Later, due to the crustal movement, the ground sank and all kinds of creatures were buried underground. After the evolution of time, organic matter decomposes and slowly forms oil and natural gas.

2. During the geological history, the crustal movement in this area once showed a downward trend, so the organic matter will be buried and covered to ensure the oil-forming environment.

Sichuan Oilfield now: It has a history of 60 years, and 12 oilfields have been discovered. There are four gas zones in the basin: south, southwest, northwest and east. At present, natural gas production accounts for nearly half of the country, making it the largest gas field in China.
