Number of ocean-going crew in China

As of March 22, 2023, China has 6.5438+0.2 million crew members, but only 6.5438+0.7 million crew members hold ocean-going merchant ship certificates, less than 5,000 ocean-going captains and less than 5,000 ocean-going chief engineers hold Class A certificates. Crew refers to all personnel on board, including the captain. People who hold certificates of competency, political commissar, purser and ship doctor are often collectively referred to as senior crew members, while others are called ordinary crew members.
