How many nuclear power plants are there in Fujian? Where are they all?

There are 4 nuclear power plants, and 2 are in operation: Ningde Nuclear Power Plant and fuqing nuclear power plant; There are 2 nuclear power plants under construction: Xiapu Nuclear Power Plant and Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant.

1. Ningde Nuclear Power Station: Located in Beiwan Village, Qinyu Town, fuding city, Ningde City, it is the first nuclear power station built on an island in China. In the first phase of the project, four million-kilowatt PWR nuclear power units adopted the CPR 1000 nuclear power technology of CGNPC, belonging to the second-generation improved PWR with independent brands.

2. fuqing nuclear power plant: Located in Xueqian Village, Sanshan Town, Fuqing City, Fuzhou, it is the largest nuclear power plant in Fujian, with six million kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power units with a total installed capacity of 6.678 million kilowatts.

3. Xiapu Nuclear Power Station: Located in Changbiao Island, Changchun, Xiapu County, Ningde, two 600 kW sodium-cooled fast reactors CFR-600 units will be built in the first phase. Sodium-cooled fast reactor is one of the candidate reactor types of the fourth generation nuclear power. It can convert more than 99% of uranium -238 which can't participate in fission into plutonium -239, turn waste from pressurized water reactor into treasure, and realize a closed nuclear fuel cycle. The first phase of Xiapu started on 20 17.

4. Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Station, located at the west bank of Dongshan Bay, Cizaiwei, northeast of Liyu Town, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou City, built two million-kilowatt "Hualong No.1" third-generation pressurized water reactors in the first phase, which started in 20 19. Unit 1 was put into commercial operation in June 2024, and Unit 2 was put into commercial operation in April 2025.
